Executive Director - Steve Simmons

Steve has been an elementary music teacher for Grand Blanc Community Schools for the past 10 years. He is an active musician in the greater-Flint area and builds diatonic Zimbabwean-influenced marimbas out of his home workshop. Steve earned his Bachelors in Music Education from the University of Michigan-Flint and Masters in Music Technology from the University of Valley Forge. He also holds an Orff-Schulwerk Level I certification and an Elementary General Music Level I certification from the Gordon Institute for Music Learning.

Katsi Marimba Band- Bruce Horn

Bruce Horn has been a music teacher at Madison Academy High School in Burton, Michigan since 2014. He is a well-known music educator in the Flint area as his unique music programs and innovative ideas not only teach students about music, but get them excited to make music! Bruce has been an active percussionist in the Flint area for over 25 years, playing in many different bands and ensembles.

Visual Art Class- Maria Peters

Maria has over 30 years of teaching experience in which she started teaching elementary art in Grand Blanc 6 years ago. In that time, she has written and been awarded grants to provide additional art supplies, field trips, books, and STEAM materials that have strengthened the visual arts program in Grand Blanc. Maria has also played an integral part in developing a new elementary art program for Grand Blanc Schools. Cultural awareness, diversity and inclusion are part of this change. Mrs. Peters is a strong advocate for art education in schools and in our community!
